The Little Things
All boards feature integrated finger grip under cuts on the end, and a rollover edge. As well as sturdy rubber feet, for a stable feel and a non slip grip on counters and tables. They also elevate the board to avoid it sitting in any wet areas.
It's all about the Bark!
While most live edge board providers out there remove the bark, I believe they are removing one of the most appealing parts of the product. When possible, I keep all the bark intact. The bark then gets completely cleaned, and finished with a durable clear epoxy. This is a lot more work than removing it, but adds such beautiful character and a rugged accent to the board. The outcome is definitely worth it. Once epoxied in place, it will remain looking that way for the life of your board.
We're down to the finish.
Most importantly, the final look, feel and durability is what makes an All Aboard board, literally shine. Other vendors simply put on a mineral oil finish, and then want you to have to keep applying some sort of cutting board paste or bees wax to try and keep the board sealed and looking good. The primary reason for doing this is, it's cheap. The problem is, it doesn't last. Even with your best efforts in continually waxing your board, after only a few uses, your board will start looking very tired and feeling like a barn board, not something you want to be serving your guests food on.
All products feature my "Endura Finish". This is a food grade commercial finish that physically bonds into the fibres of the wood, sealing it and making it maintenance free for you. My boards start out silky smooth, and stay that way.
